Model reasoning
Anthropic's yearly revenue pace went from about $9 billion at the end of 2025 to $65 billion by July 2026, and the company expects to pass $100 billion by year-end. OpenAI is at about $50 billion. Reaching $300 billion means roughly tripling again. That most likely happens during 2028, and it would show up in Anthropic's quarterly reports after its planned November listing. The biggest swing factor is how much Anthropic's growth slows in 2027.
How I read the question
The question needs a company-authored disclosure (SEC filing, earnings release, or a post on anthropic.com or openai.com) showing a run rate of at least $300B, or quarterly revenue of at least $75B (×4). It has to be dated after 2026-09-16. Anthropic's run rate is "most recent month × 12" and counts cloud-marketplace sales gross. That basis is allowed here because it is the company's own reported metric.
Where things stand (mid-October 2026)
Anthropic's run rate so far
- About $9B at the end of 2025.
- $14B in February and over $30B in April (posts on anthropic.com).
- Over $47B in early May (Series H post).
- $65B at the end of July (CNBC, Aug 17).
- Q2 2026 revenue was about $11.5B (×4 ≈ $46B).
Anthropic's outlook and IPO timing
- Reporting in September and October says it expects to top $100B by year-end (NYT Sept 18; CNBC Oct 13).
- Breakingviews notes "some recent deceleration." My implied Q4 pace is about 5–9% a month, down from about 30% a month in the first half of 2026.
- The IPO is targeted for November. The public S-1 is due around Oct 25 and the roadshow the week of Nov 9. After that, quarterly earnings will give a regular disclosure channel. Anthropic also has a habit of posting run-rate milestones on anthropic.com.
Forecasts of Anthropic's path
- The company's own deck (Reuters, Aug 15): $190–200B of revenue in 2028. This is conservative and probably stale.
- Sell-side (as summarised on a Substack): about $200B by the end of 2027.
- Investors quoted by the FT on Sept 13: about $120B at the end of 2026 and "almost triple" by the end of 2027.
- Inference gross margin is above 80%. Compute commitments are about $518B and roughly 14.8 GW, much of it arriving in 2027–28, so compute should not cap revenue at $300B.
OpenAI
- About $50B in September on a net basis (CNBC Oct 8), after 77% run-rate growth in Q3. It expects $70B by year-end.
- Its internal plan is $350B of revenue in 2030 (FT, as relayed by StartupFortune).
- Its IPO is expected in 2027. It is a second path to YES, but slower and closely tied to the same AI demand.
Model and base rate
I simulated the run rate as a Monte Carlo:
- Start: about $92B at the end of September.
- Growth: about 8% a month, slowing with an 18-month time constant toward a floor of 1.5–3.5% a month.
- Downside: an 18% chance of a plateau and a 4% yearly chance of a bust.
- OpenAI: a correlated second path.
- Disclosure delay: 1–4 months after the crossing, longer if only quarterly revenue ×4 is reported.
Results:
- Median Anthropic run rate: about $218–235B at the end of 2027 and about $340–390B at the end of 2028.
- Cumulative chance of YES: about 11% by end-2027, 55% by end-2028, 77% by end-2029 and 84% by end-2031.
As an outside check, companies that reached $100B in revenue have rarely tripled within five years: Amazon took about 4.5 years and Alphabet about 5. Anthropic, though, needs only about 25% a year from here, against roughly 3x a year now.
I nudged 2027 up slightly for the chance growth speeds up again (new compute, faster capability gains) and set the five-year total at about 0.87.
Paths to YES and to NO
- YES: growth stays at roughly 2–3x a year through 2027–28, crossing $300B in late 2027 to 2028, most likely revealed in an Anthropic earnings release.
- Early YES (by end-2027): needs growth to speed up to at least 10% a month. I put this at about 13%.
- NO: a sharp slowdown or plateau (price cuts, competition, saturation in coding), or an AI or market bust. The backdrop already includes rising rates, oil above $100, a chip selloff and warnings about capital constraints. Other routes are regulatory or safety shocks, or Anthropic's own "pacing" of new capabilities. A switch to net revenue accounting would cut the figure by about 6–10%, a small delay.
Strongest case against my numbers
If the investor forecast of about $350B by end-2027 is right, 2027 resolution could be 25–30% likely rather than 13%. The other side is that the company's own plan implies crossing only around 2029, and OpenAI's plan reaches $350B only in 2030. I weighted these views toward the sell-side middle.

Resolution criteria
Question. By the last day of each quarter, has OpenAI or Anthropic reported annualised revenue of US$300 billion or more?
Definitions.
- Company: OpenAI or Anthropic, considered separately, including its consolidated subsidiaries and any renamed or reorganised continuation of the same business. Do not add the two companies’ revenues together. If acquired by or merged into a larger group, only revenue separately attributable to the OpenAI or Anthropic business counts, not the larger group’s total.
- Annualised revenue: revenue expressed at a yearly rate based on realised business activity, rather than a forecast. A company-reported current “annualised revenue,” “annual revenue run rate,” or equivalent metric counts even if its calculation is not disclosed. Alternatively, annualise disclosed actual revenue for a completed calendar or fiscal month by multiplying by 12, or for a completed fiscal quarter by multiplying by 4. Actual revenue for a completed fiscal year or trailing 12 months also counts without multiplication. Do not independently extrapolate daily or weekly revenue.
- Revenue: revenue from the company’s business, using its disclosed accounting or run-rate basis; an audit or GAAP reconciliation is not required. Annual recurring revenue counts only if the company identifies it as its revenue run rate, rather than solely the annual value of signed contracts. Funding raised, valuation, gross transaction value, bookings, backlog, and customers’ spending with third-party distributors are not themselves revenue.
- Threshold: at least US$300,000,000,000 in nominal dollars. A stated value of $300 billion, including an approximately stated value, counts; a range counts only if its lower endpoint is at least $300 billion. “Approaching $300 billion” does not count. For another reporting currency, use only a US-dollar equivalent or conversion rate supplied in the qualifying company disclosure.
Resolves YES if a qualifying public disclosure reports that either company has reached the threshold under these definitions. The reported figure must describe an achieved rate or actual revenue, not a target, projection, or hypothetical scenario. A product or segment alone reaching the threshold suffices if its revenue belongs to the named company; smaller product figures must not be added together unless the disclosure establishes that they are non-overlapping and use the same period and basis.
The Resolution window and Observation period conventions apply. The underlying revenue period must end after 2026-09-16; a point-in-time run rate must be as of a date after 2026-09-16. A statement of a current achieved run rate without a separate measurement date is treated as current on publication. A newly published repetition of a pre-opening figure does not count.
Resolves NO for a quarter if no qualifying disclosure has been published by that quarter-end. Forecasts such as “on track to reach,” confidential investor updates described only by the press, and outside analysts’ revenue estimates do not qualify. Later declines or restatements do not reverse an already qualifying YES under the Resolution window convention.
Resolving source. Company-authored public SEC filings on EDGAR, including registration statements, annual or quarterly reports, and company-authored earnings releases furnished as exhibits; or official company statements and financial disclosures on openai.com or anthropic.com, including their official investor-relations successor domains. These are the permitted subset of Public confirmation (A2); third-party reports cannot substitute for the company disclosure. Official funding announcements may qualify when they report revenue, as distinct from funding proceeds; see Anthropic’s Series H announcement for this disclosure format. Apply Resolution date (A3) using public publication, not a confidential filing date or the revenue measurement date.
